Tech Closeup # 28

So, here's show 28 of Tech Closeup. I edited it together, and shot everything but the Cupertino school piece and the PSAs.

Behind the Scenes

Some shots from today's work at the Peninsula TV studio. The top pic is a great accidental shot of the audio board, the next two pics are from the show, "The Game." That show gets played on Peninsula TV and the WB20, or whatever ch 20 is calling itself these days. The bottom shot is from one of two Newsbeats that play on Peninsula TV only. Note how some of the set pieces look similar. Hmm. Also finished up the Tech Closeup show #29. But that was editing, not studio.

580 Grass Fire

There was a chopper making water drops too. Looked like a controlled burn, or they really appeared to get it out fast. Check the video too...

Behind the Scenes

Behind the scenes of Speak Out on 5/19/07. In the new ABS CBNI studio in the Bay Area. In fact, the studio's so new the real control room isn't built yet. The temporary gear was setup and worked great for this day's shows. For audio they rented a nice Midas board, and some great wireless Shure mics-very clean sounding. And I brought some of my stuff, and some gear from the Pen. TV studio as well. It was fun mixing on a different board, hearing a different manufacturer's take on mixing (usually I'm on a Mackie board, known for their great sound in the small price range. They're nothing wrong with them. It's just always fun when I get to work on something different.) I liked the lighting they had in this studio, with all the colors and gobos, added a slick feel to it.

More Production pics

More pics from the production of "The Cleaner."
Above: The desk is laughing at you.

Above: If you know where to look, you can see a deer's hiney.

Above: Production often takes a sidestep in the hangover hours.

Above: And if you take a picture of this picture, the world will implode.

Above: First thought-Look an actress! Second thought-Look an actor too. Third thought-Where exactly is it that I'm pointing the camera at? Fourth thought-Dude, it's a close-up for when he grabs her arm. What did you think I was pointing the camera at?

Production Pics

Some pictures taken from a short film shoot for a flick called "The Cleaner."Above: How to get that light really really high up there. Tie it to a ladder. (The ladder isn't as short as it appears in the pic.)

Above: Looking thru the viewfinder at the house party scene.

Above: How to get the high vantage point in the office scene: Put camera on top of desk. Make Tripod Tall. Find taller camera man...or wait...a chair.

Ah, whoops!! That table isn't entirely stable. Actors should not sit on it. Now they're holding it up for dear life.

Oh...Yeah!

Somewhere near University Ave off 101? Down on the corner, down in the street...

Traffic sucked this day

The camera phone was held high out the driver's side window. To get from here to home, it might take 20-25 mins...Here it took like 85-90. Oh, and the "traffic leader" radio station said 92 was moving right along just fine. 3mins later KGO AM said it was like a 4 car pileup. I was stuck in this traffic for at least 10 mins already
